Friday, August 16th: Multigenerational Approaches to Farming & Land Access
Come see these two organizations that are teaching farming across generations and learn about their stories to thrive, including how they have struggled to access land for generations to come. The Food Literacy Project positions youth to transform their communities through food, farming and the land. Common Earth Gardens collaborates with the diverse and multicultural community of Kentucky to increase land access to grow food, develop new farm businesses, and build healthy community networks.
This day will consist of a tour, conversation and an optional morning work project at Food Literacy Project. Please come prepared to work in the garden. Wear clothing and shoes that can get dirty. Pack sunscreen and a refillable water bottle. A box lunch will be provided. The afternoon will be a tour and conversation at a Common Earth Garden site which will include walking and standing. If you need a chair, please pack one.
