“Forever Chemicals/PFAS; A Massive Public Health Issue!"

United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG #6: Clean Water & Sanitation

Teena Halbig: U of L Bachelor of Science and Certificate in Medical Technology;
MT(ASCP): Medical Technologist by American Society of Clinical Pathologists;
Clinical Laboratory Scientist by National Certification Agency (NCA);
Jewish Hospital Microbiologist, Virologist (Center for Disease Control training),
U of L Researcher in Dept. of Pediatrics Cytogenetics and Hematology/Oncology, (retired)

Teena retired to become a successful CEO & President of a small business with time to be involved in civic issues. She became Co-Founder of Floyds Fork Environmental Association then served as League of Women Voters of Louisville President and next as State President.

Close mentor and friend, Dr. Lilialyce Akers, introduced Teena to the United Nations Association of the USA or UNA-USA. Teena became Louisville Chapter President, then State President (term limited at 6 years). Currently, she is Vice President and continues to lead Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention for 11 years. Teena is in her 5th year with National UNA-USA, serving on several committees and Chair of Ethics.

July 2019, Teena read an article by Environmental Working Group about “Forever Chemicals” and began research. DuPont Chemical did not disclose findings to U.S. EPA but used PFAS chemicals for 5 DECADES until attorney Rob Bilott filed lawsuits. Some of these dangerous chemicals remain in the environment THOUSANDS OF YEARS. 99% of us have some “forever chemicals” chemicals in our blood – and found in newborns.

As a civic leader, Teena will engage you to take several actions because these “forever chemicals” known as PFAS are linked to health maladies plus several types of cancer.
