Learn basic skills to develop a relationship with elected officials from which to build effective and meaningful advocacy efforts.
Meaningful and effective policy advocacy begins with a relationship. Far too often, advocates' initial interaction with policy makers is what we want them to do (or not do).
Our advocacy is more meaningful and effective when we first recognize and connect with their humanity and begin by building a relationship. Further, our advocacy is more effective when we know and are liked by our policy makers than when we are strangers.
This interactive workshop (link to register) outlines an approach to advocacy that begins with creating a relationship with policy makers, recognizing the strategic nature of this kind of relationship.
