Second Chances Wildlife Center
Environmental Education Equitability Expansion
We will offer free or discounted classes to JCPS "high-poverty schools" that otherwise would not be able to afford students the opportunity for Environmental Education.
The goal of the Equitable Environmental Education Expansion is to make access to quality, highly engaging Environmental Education more equitable in Jefferson County. Second Chances Wildlife Center’s Environmental Education Program brings live rescued wildlife, our “ambassador animals”, to classrooms to ignite a passion for both the natural sciences and environmental stewardship. Nothing engages and excites students like a live animal, and the benefits of EE in terms of academic performance, enthusiasm for school, and character development are well-studied and proven. Each of our classes meet certain Kentucky Academic Standards.
