Louisville Tool Library

Sponsored Memberships to Homeowners in Need

The Louisville Tool Library (LTL) operates as a volunteer-driven, community-centered, 501(c)(3) non-profit initiative, committed to facilitating access to resources, minimizing waste, and fostering education. Functioning akin to a traditional library, LTL enables members to borrow various household items for a 7-day lending period. Operated by 34 dedicated volunteers, LTL boasts an inventory of over 2,000 tools and housewares, facilitating 7,200 loans to over 350 members. All tools within our inventory are generously donated by the community or corporate partners.

With the funds from the LSC Sustainability grant, LTL aims to offer 25 scholarship memberships to residents residing in low-income census tracts. Membership goes beyond borrowing tools; it provides a pathway to self-reliance and resilience for homeowners facing financial challenges. Through partnerships with organizations like the Rotary West Louisville Housing Initiative and the Louisville Urban League Center for Housing and Financial Empowerment, we aim to extend our reach to 25 low-income scholarship recipients, offering them the tools and knowledge necessary for home maintenance and improvement.
