These programs include workshops on tree care, sustainable agricultural practices, and the ecological benefits of biodiverse plantings, all aimed at promoting environmental stewardship. The Giving Grove Coordinator is a crucial position that Louisville Grows urgently needs to establish to spearhead and initiate work on the Giving Grove initiative. Currently unfilled, this role is pivotal for the successful implementation and management of sustainable community orchards in Louisville's West End. The coordinator will be responsible for the overall direction and execution of the project, from the initial planning stages through to the ongoing development and maintenance of the orchards. This position will serve as the central point of coordination for all activities related to the orchards, including site selection, volunteer recruitment and training, and community engagement. The Giving Grove Coordinator will work closely with local residents, ensuring that the community is actively involved in every step of the process and that the orchards meet the specific needs and expectations of the neighborhood. By establishing this role, Louisville Grows aims to enhance its capacity to deliver on its mission to create greener, healthier neighborhoods through urban forestry, effectively addressing food insecurity and environmental sustainability in one of the city’s most underserved areas.
