Isaac W. Bernheim Foundation DBA Bernheim Forest and Arboretum
Bernheim Community Partnership for Fresh Food Access
Bernheim Forest and Arboretum produces over 4,000 pounds of fresh produce in its Edible Garden each growing season. Our current yield is larger than what can be used at our onsite Isaac’s Cafe. To prevent food waste and to provide fresh produce to those who need it, Bernheim will partner with Change Today Change Tomorrow (CTCT), who will distribute it to food-insecure residents in Louisville, Kentucky.
Bernheim will harvest, package, and deliver fresh fruit and vegetables twice per month throughout the growing season. Produce will be free at CTCT’s Feed the West Farmer Markets and kiosk locations throughout Louisville, including New Leaf Clinic and Alberta Jones Park. Support from Louisville Sustainability Council will enable Bernheim’s horticulture staff to harvest, assemble, and transport produce from Bernheim Forest to Louisville twice a month from July-October 2024 and April –July 2025. Bernheim is honored to partner with Change Today, Change Tomorrow (CTCT), located in the California neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. CTCT’s mission is to eradicate the food justice and public health barriers that plague Black and marginalized communities.
