Action Team Event Participation

Weaving the diversity of Louisville and its worldviews into awareness and actions to preserve, protect, and grow the natural bounties of this area.

Challenges

Developing a cohesive and collaborative platform that effectively communicates sustainability-related events with the community at large

Definitions

  • Community Engagement: the process by which organizations and individuals build ongoing, permanent relationships for the purpose of applying a collective vision for the benefit of a community (Wikipedia)
  • Zero Waste: As defined by the EPA, zero waste implies reaching a minimum of 90% diversion rate. This means that 90% of all materials being disposed of must either be recycled or composted.

Actions

  • Seek out local events with opportunity to engage community members in a variety of ways
    • Present volunteer opportunities
    • Encourage LSC membership
    • Facilitate e-newsletter signups
  • Raise awareness of the Louisville Sustainability Council and its mission, vision and objectives,
  • Hold monthly team meetings to ensure that members can collaborate in an open forum, allowing for the maintenance and growth of momentum in our efforts. A set of guidelines will be created to help establish what it means to be an active member of the action team.
  • A future plan to create a video series targeting a variety of demographics throughout the Louisville community, providing an opportunity for education and the sharing of sustainable efforts from one Louisvillian to another.

Team Projects

  • Monthly Green Drinks
  • Engaging the community by tabling at four key events each year. If you would like to have the LSC table at your event, please use the request form above.
