Marie Burnett graduated with a BS in Environmental Science from Eastern Kentucky University. Marie has been working in her field for 20 years, starting her career out of college at the Health Department’s Environmental Health and Protection Cabinet. From an Environmental Health Specialist to an Environmental Supervisor at the Jefferson County Waste Management District. Marie was employed by Louisville Jefferson County for 13 years until she left in 2008 to assume the role of Landfill District Manager Waste Management of Kentucky.
Marie is a long standing member on the Jefferson County Solid Waste Advisory Committee, she has been involved in Merger 2.0 for Mayor Fischer, is a Board Member of the Louisville Sustainability Council, is a member of the Board of Directors for Saratoga Woods as well as the Vice President of Kentucky Clean Fuels Coalition. Marie is also a certified Kentucky Solid Waste Landfill Manager Marie was born and raised in Louisville KY and is very active in her community which includes Operation Brightside, Floyds Fork Creek Sweep, Ohio River Sweep, St Edward Parish just to name a few.
