Director of Sustainability for Louisville Metro
Maria Koetter is the Director of Sustainability for Louisville Metro and is responsible for city-wide strategic sustainability planning, policy development and implementation of new programs and initiatives. Ms. Koetter wrote Louisville’s first sustainability plan “Sustain Louisville” which was released in March 2013. Ms. Koetter has extensive experience with corporate social responsibility programs and organizational sustainability planning. Ms. Koetter formerly founded Bgreen2 LLC, which provided corporate sustainability consulting services. Koetter was formerly employed at the top 10 national environmental and engineering consulting firm Tetra Tech Inc. as a senior project manager. In this capacity, Ms. Koetter managed and supported numerous multi-project portfolios for both government and Fortune 500 private sector clients and worked within a wide array of federal EPA programs. Ms. Koetter was a member of the Bingham Fellows Class of 2010 and Green Convene Chair in 2010 and 2011. Koetter received her B.S. in Biology from Western Kentucky University. She is a US Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional and is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
